Are you over 17?: Yes! I'm 21, soon to be 22!
Characters in Forest Covered: None.
( CHARACTER INFORMATION )
Name/Work Name: Shunsuke Imaizumi/Niban--It means 2nd in Japanese and he's the ace's assistant which means that's his bike number.
Canon: Yowamushi Pedal
Canon Point: The end of the anime second season, right after their trip to Akiba with Onoda.
AU/CRAU: None.
Age: He should be 16 after the inter-high!
History: Here! Though his wiki doesn’t explain a whole lot, so here is the link to the episode summaries and what happened in those. If you need me to explain anything else, let me know!
Personality:
At first, Imaizumi is pretty cold and prideful to the point where all he cares about it winning and being in the front of the pack. Though, this changes after he faces the challenges he does in the inter high, as the whole complex about having to win came from when he lost to Midousuji after he told Imaizumi a lie about his mother dying, causing him to lose the race. All he cared about before was beating Midousuji in a race, and even though he lost to him in the race during the first few days of the inter high, he finally grew out of that after going through a small amount of time wondering why he even races. Kinjou and his teammates helped him overcome this pride and he realized that he wasn’t only racing for himself anymore, but for the whole team of Sohoku since their strength is what pushed him to go this far, as he probably would’ve given up after losing to Midousuji. However, he does actually beat Midousuji near the ending of the inter-high with the help of Onoda there to cheer him on, but the whole time instead of thinking about himself, he thinks of his team and how his and Onoda’s job is to carry their team’s jersey to the end of the inter-high. He thought so differently during that time that he even taunted Midousuji during their race while the other tried to taunt him. He just takes his insult and throws it back at him calling him "Kimosuji" as Midousuji called him "Kimozumi," which is something that he let get to him the day before.
So now, he’s actually a lot kinder towards his team since he realized the strength of their will to win, and he even calls Onoda by his first name which says how he has formed bonds with his teammates over the course of their training period. Even while racing Midousuji, he thinks of how Naruko and Kinjou (and also Tadokoro, but he did not drop out) gave it their all, to the point where they had to drop out of the race, in order for the team to be able to move forward, which helps him keep moving forward as well. Imaizumi still does have that will to win and improve himself, so that much hasn’t changed, but he’s more willing to try to win with his team rather than alone, even if he does like staying at the front because it is quiet. Even though he isn’t as prideful as he was before, he still is very confident in his abilities that he believes that he will keep on improving for the next inter-high, so of course he doesn’t just stop training or thinking highly of himself. He’s just a bit more open about relying on others in order to win since he formed bonds with each of his teammates and has learned to respect them.
Speaking of being quiet, Imaizumi is usually always very quiet, classmates commenting how they weren’t even sure how Onoda got him to say more than a few words. He mostly would keep to himself and only care about riding bikes before he made friends on the team such as Onoda and Naruko. At first, he didn’t even get along with Naruko because they both butted heads often, mainly because both of them were stubborn and Imaizumi get easily hot-headed if he gets angry, but even though the two are similar to how “rivals” would act, they are pretty good friends now and ride alongside each other in the team. The three first years are very close, despite them all being so different as Onoda didn’t have any friends before, Naruko is quite loud and flashy, and Imaizumi is pretty hard to get along with at first due to being so serious all the time. He is very serious about cycling to the point where he silently calculates most all of the moves while trying to predict how his opponent will react to whatever he does. Imaizumi is pretty smart when it comes to cycling and that’s why he was chosen for the ace for the next inter-high.
Debt:
Imaizumi would definitely not just sign his name away easily, but saying that his friends and teammates need his help would be enough for him. He would definitely use that chance to make a wish that he would be able to win next year's inter-high, with Naruko and Onoda right next to him as they crossed the finish line, and also to have it to where they can have a nice lead so it's nice and quiet, just like he likes it, as well.
Previous Game Info: N/A.
Inventory: He was wearing his Sohoku racing uniform at the end of the anime. His bike frame cracked, so he's probably been using a school one for the time being. He didn't really have much else on him at the time.
Abilities: He's an all-rounder cyclist which means he's great at both climbing and sprinting. He was the ace's assistant as a first year during the inter-high which means he's really good at cycling in general as he rode as the ace of the team after Kinjou had to withdraw from the race. He uses his logical thinking to help himself improve at his abilities when it comes to biking since he always wants to push himself to better himself at his sport. He's also pretty smart since he takes this sport very seriously.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
(Keep in mind, these are mostly related to cycling strengths and weaknesses.)
Strengths:
Level-headed: Imaizumi usually doesn't act before he thinks when it comes to cycling. If something doesn't completely go how he thought it would, he does panic for a short amount of time, but he always keeps himself on track by keeping every thought he has mostly rational. He has learned to stay calm so that he won't panic and will be able to keep on going without any obstacles.
Quick-thinking&Logical: Imaizumi always uses logic when deciding between anything as he always is one step ahead of others when cycling. He usually calculates things having to do with riding, even taking into consideration what his opponent might be like. He always rides to the best of his ability and does so because of how logical he is.
Smart: While it's never really said how he is in school since he has skipped school before to watch cycling matches, Imaizumi is pretty smart just because of everything that goes through his mind when cycling. He has to think about the speed that he is going at as well as when is the best time to change his gears which requires a lot of dedication and training. He has definitely taken cycling seriously for a very long time and has studied it very closely. It's also implied that he pays attention to small details since he remembers the Love Hime theme song and corrects Naruko on how he was wrong about the lyrics which was something that Onoda didn't even correct him on.
Weaknesses:
Prideful: Imaizumi has a lot of issues with being prideful to the point where he is almost selfish. He later gets over this, but as soon as their current ace drops out from the race, he tells himself how he is riding as Sohoku's ace now. He always likes winning and prefers finishing first in a race because it's quiet at the front, but also because he has a lot of pride.
Hot-headed: While he may be good at keeping a level-head about things, he is very quick to anger some of the times. Imaizumi lost his cool in the middle of the Inter-High just because he let Midousuji get to him to the point where he didn't want to race anymore. He gets angry and is easily provoked by even little comments. He does get better because of how he accepts the team's will, but even so, he does have a bit of a temper problem.
Poor communicator: While he is smart internally, he's very socially awkward and isn't good at communicating with others. He hasn't really had many friends in the past and is pretty awkwardly quiet since no one can really understand him too well. He even has a fan club of girls that admire him, and he just ignores them because he doesn't really care. Imaizumi also doesn't get along with his sister which is stated in a creator's note since he honestly only cares about biking and doesn't really talk about much else.
